Today is Music Monday. It is a day celebrated across Canada by music teachers and is sponsored by the Coalition for Music Education and CBC. Luc Ducette was commissioned to write a song that will be sung and played on instruments by school children all across Canada at the same time.

The choir has been working on this challenging song this month and added their voices to the air at 11am today. Here is a clip of our fabulous choir:

Student Art Sale was a Huge Success!

As an extension from our whole school literature project "One Hen," students wanted to sell their art for a dollar at parent teacher interviews, to raise money to feed families in Africa. The art sale was definitely a huge success! So successful, that students raised over $600, which provides 12 families with 5 chickens each. To celebrate this accomplishment we had a whole school chicken dance on Thursday, April 28.

Way to go, Lochearn!

"Peck, Peck, Peck" Kindergarteners observe chicks being hatched!

It was an exciting day yesterday in Mrs. Stzym's classroom when Marvin entered the world! As scientists, the Kindergarten students observed the first of eight chicks being hatched. The energy and excitement filled the school as we welcomed Marvin (Marvin because they are studying the letter M) into the world. Mrs. Stzym spent hours videotaping these chicks throughout the evening so her students could witness the rest of the eggs being hatched.

Here is a video of this amazing event:
